Nigel Poole is a composer in Canberra, Australia.
Nigel studied pipe organ throughout his school years in the 1960s and developed an interest in composition at an early age.
But early thoughts of becoming a professional organist or composer became derailed after he accidentally found himself playing piano on cruise ships and holiday resorts... a little diversion which lasted for a couple of decades into the 1990s.
Then, around the turn of the century, Nigel settled in Canberra, where he finally returned to the classical traditions he had embraced in his formative years. He took up playing the organ again and reignited his interest in composition.
Nigel went on to gain his CRCO (Colleague Diploma) from the Royal College of Organists in 2014 and a Bachelor of Music from the University of New England (Australia) in 2022.
His compositions for choir and organ have been performed in Australian churches, and also overseas at the London Festival of Contemporary Church Music (LFCCM). Some live recordings of his music from the LFCCM can be heard here.
Nigel's compositions are published in Australia by Wirripang.
